Why MediCruiser

The 3 biggest problems problems with the American medical system are:

  1. Ever-increasing costs with complex and confusing health insurance
  2. Delayed appointments to see doctors and specialists, with visits that are often rushed and without enough time to explore multiple concerns or answer questions
  3. Health care that is split into too many different services — often with poor coordination between them

The goal of MediCruiser is to fix each of these problems with a single service. This now possible by combining advanced technology and good old fashioned personal care.

We do this by offering doctor house calls –to the home, an office, a office, or even a hotel room. With the newest technology, the diagnostic equipment of a clinic can be put in a vehicle — and brought right the home as needed.

The goal of MediCruiser is to continue to explore and develop methods to provide the highest quality of care at minimal cost to the patient.

Ultimately, we hope that while the government debates the big issues of insurance, we will change the system from the grass roots level, one community at a time.

question markI already have a good doctor, but I’d like a house call. Is that possible?

Absolutely.  MediCruiser’s goal is to complement other healthcare services – not compete with them.  If you are lucky to have good care, we can help make access easier by providing service to your home or other location.

We will not change your care, but can add extra services you might not get at the clinic, such as foot care.

If you request, we can also send your MediCruiser electronic medical record to your doctor, hospital or other service, to help smoothly coordinate your health management.

question markCan I get a house call at my work or hotel room?

Absolutely!  Please call us to discuss your needs and arrange a convenient time and location.

question markWhat tests can MediCruiser do on a house call?

We can actually provide even more services than available in most urgent care clinics.

About Dr. Gahlinger
Dr. Paul Gahlinger - MediCruiserPaul Gahlinger began his career in health care at the age of 18, when he found an unlikely job as a surgeon’s assistant in the local hospital.  That inspired him to become a paramedic, and then – after a few sidetracks to become a commercial pilot and earning degrees in Philosophy (B.A.) and Anthropology (M.A., Ph.D.) – he became an Epidemiologist (M.P.H.), studying patterns of disease in populations under his mentor, Dr. William C. Reed at the University of California, Berkeley.

Do you ever feel wound up in a big problem? While in Peru exploring local healing methods, Dr. Gahlinger encountered this 25 foot anaconda on the bank of the Amazon River

But he grew up on a farm and wanted to get back to the country life.  So he gave up his job as a professor, and returned to school to study medicine at the University of California, Davis.  That was followed by a surgical internship in Hawaii and another year of training in general family medicine.  He then began to work around the world—from Alaska to Africa to Antarctica—ultimately visiting over 120 countries. As Chief Medical Officer at Johnston Atoll (a military base in the mid-Pacific storing chemical weapons) he directed a hospital, a 9-bed emergency department, ambulance service, and a clinical laboratory for chemical weapons. Under his management, the facility was the first to achieve ISO 9000 and JCAHO certification. For this achievement, he was awarded a Medal for Distinguished Service by the U.S. Army, Defense Special Weapons.

He returned to academia at the University of Utah, teaching in Department of Family and Preventive Medicine and writing – ultimately 11 books and numerous scientific and popular articles. (this is a link to Wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_M._Gahlinger)

After 30 years of working in almost every aspect of medical care, Dr. Gahlinger recognized the many challenges to providing affordable high quality health care.  And then he decided to develop a solution: MediCruiser

Most clinics will craw blood and send it to a lab. this takes up to a week for turnaround time. It is expensive and involves follow-up phone calls or visits to discuss and interpret the test results. With MediCruiser, the results are immediate , and the tests are free.
